New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addresses a conference on the occasion of Legal Services Day today in New Delhi.

Here are the highlights
  • I believe in 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' and with that there must be 'Sabka Nyay'
  • Happy that discussions are being held on how poor will get justice. I have been able to learn a lot being here
  • Our Law universities should give special assignments to students to do research on Lok Adalats across the country
  • They should submit reports and give suggestions. Students should know what Lok Adalats are.
  • With legal awareness, there must also be institutional awareness. People must know the systems that are in place
  • I feel more and more people must know what our Lok Adalats are about
  • When I was Chief Minister in Gujarat, the justice in Lok Adalats was given in very short span.
  • There are more than 15 lakh Lok Adalats, 8.5 crore people have got justice. In a way it is 17 crore because there are two parties in every dispute
  • Governments should be dedicated and committed to justice
  • After Bhuj earthquake when lakhs were displaced, that time I requested the High Court for help
  • 30,000 claims were settled without any case being taken forward by the state
  • We must study institutions with neutral mindsets
  • We have given the labourers a unique ID card number. This will help the labourers immensely in several ways
  • We need to amend and make new laws for transgenders
