Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu today flagged off the Rajdhani Express connecting Goa and New Delhi from the Madgaon railway station in Margao.
The launch of the train, promised by Mr Prabhu during an earlier visit, is fulfillment of a long pending demand from Goans to run a Rajdhani Express from the coastal state to the national capital.
The train will travel from Madgaon to Hazrat Nizamuddin and vice versa.
"The regular Bi-weekly Rajdhani Express Train No-22413 will depart Madgaon at 10:05 hrs on every Sunday and Monday and reach H.Nizamuddin at 12:40 hrs on the next day," a release from Konkan Railway said.
"In return direction, Train No-22414 will leave from H. Nizamuddin at 10:55 hrs on every Friday and Saturday and reach Madgaon at 12:55 hrs on the next day. This train will have 16 coaches and will halt at Thivim, Kudal, Ratnagiri, Panvel, Surat, Vadodara & Kota stations," it said.
Now besides this, other Delhi bound trains originating from Goa include the Goa Sampark Kranti Express and the Goa Express.
