New Delhi: The youngest Indian evacuated from Yemen - seven-day-old Parvathy - arrived in Kerala's Kochi early this morning along with 382 people.
The new-born and her parents - Raji Raju and Sash Kumar - were rescued from the Yemeni capital Sana'a and flown to Djibouti by an Air India plane on Wednesday.
The baby, who was diagnosed with jaundice, dehydration and breathing problems, was being stabilised on an incubator and was recuperating at a hospital in Djibouti. She was kept in an incubator even on her flight back home.
"The child is stable and responding well. She has jaundice and other issues because of being a premature baby, but she is well on the road to recovery," said Dr Uma Nambiar who accompanied her to Kochi.
The infant was supposed to fly out on an Indian Air Force C-17 Globemaster on Wednesday, but her condition didn't allow that to happen.
The state government has made arrangements for Parvathy's treatment at the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences in the city.
"I am very grateful to the government of India and Kerala Chief Minister for extending all support and bringing us back home safely", said a relieved Raji Raju, the baby's mother. The child's father is being evacuated by ship.
Meanwhile, over 346 people have boarded INS Sumitra at the Al Hodeidah port who will be de-boarded at Djibouti, say Indian Navy sources.
Over 800 Indians were evacuated from Sana'a on the last day of air evacuations by the Indian government.
