Sunak Singh wants to become an air force officer and serve his country by fighting terrorism
Udhampur:
This village in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur is celebrating the success of 17-year-old Sunak Singh, who secured 92 per cent marks in matriculation and topped the merit list for the Jammu winter zone board exams despite challenging circumstances.
Sunak was just two years old when his father, a village defence committee member, was killed by suspected terrorists at village Galiote. The fear of militancy forced the family to migrate to Pancheri village. His mother sent him to school despite extreme poverty.
Sunak wants to become an air force officer and serve his country by fighting terrorism.
"In 2001 my father was killed by terrorists, I feel very sad, the thoughts of my father come when I am studying, I will take revenge of my father's death - I will not take revenge through gun but through pen", he said.
But it seems that the struggle for the family is not yet over as Sunak does not have enough money for higher studies.
"I have put in great efforts for studies, there are no tuitions or teachers in the village, I had to face huge struggle to reach this level, I don't have money, I come from a poor family, it is impossible to continue my studies due to financial problems", he said.
Sunak's mother Nima Devi says, "Fifteen years ago my husband was killed by terrorists, we have faced tremendous problems ever since, the life passed in abject poverty, even today things are no better."
