Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath addreses the media as his government completes 100 days.
A hundred days is not enough to for change, but a beginning has been made, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said today as his government reached that first landmark. His government, he said, has taken big initiatives to improve infrastructure and law and order in the state and he was "satisfied" with the work done so far.
The largest state in India is also one of the most in need of development and is known for the daunting challenges it faces. Accusing the earlier governments of "corruption and nepotism" the Chief Minister said, "100 days is too little for change or development in any state". The government, he added, has "initiated action to take the state towards development".
Yogi Adityanath said his government was following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's maxim of "Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas" (Cooperation of all, Development for all). The 44-year-old saffron-robed politician underscored again today that his government would work for all sections of the society without any discrimination.
"We are committed to work for people belonging to any strata of the society," the Chief Minister said. "When I say people from all strata, that explains a lot. There's no place for discrimination in this government."
On the occasion, he also released a booklet -- "100 din vishwas ke" (100 Days of Trust).
Yogi Adityanath had taken oath with two deputies and 44 other ministers on March 19 after the BJP received a huge mandate in the state assembly elections - winning 312 of the state's 403 seats. Hours after taking over power, the new Chief Minister hit the accelerator on delivering the party's pre-election promises that included setting up of anti-Romeo squads and crackdown on illegal abattoirs.
He also announced loan waivers for farmers - another pre-election promise that is expected to cost the state more than Rs 36,000 crore.
