New Delhi:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation of Indian Institute of Skills in Kanpur today with the aim of making youths more employable and self-reliant.
The institute has been conceptualised by the Prime Minister during his visit to Singapore's Institute of Technical Education, according to an official release.
The Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Ministry has joined hands with Institute of Technical Education, Singapore, in this connection.
The ministry has decided to establish six such institutes.
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate Kaushal Pradarshini (skill exhibition) for the youth of Uttar Pradesh.
The exhibition would showcase state-of-the-art vocational training practices across different sectors and would be open for public view at Railway Grounds, Kanpur between December 19 and December 22.
PM Modi would also launch an array of skill development initiatives for the youths, including Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendras and Drivers' Training Institutes.
The event would also witness forming of strategic partnerships with various industries that will train and employ approximate four lakh youths over the next 3 years.
