Mumbai:
Six people, including three policemen and a woman, were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly sexually exploiting a woman, police said.
The woman had sent a text message to Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria on April 21, complaining about her being sexually exploited by some men including two assistant police inspectors and head constable of the city police.
Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria called her to his office and after giving her a hearing, forwarded the complaint to MIDC police station, following which a case was registered under the Sections 376 (rape), 354 (a) (sexual harassment), 384 (extortion) and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
The accused also include a woman. The case is being probed by the crime branch, said Dhananjay Kulkarni, PRO of Mumbai Police.
As per Commissioner Maria's instructions, an Assistant Commissioner of Police will monitor the case, he added.
