In a hit-and-run caught on CCTV camera, a speeding Wagon R hit two children in Thane near Mumbai on Saturday afternoon.
The children were rushed to the hospital. Six-year-old Jiya Kotak is in a critical condition and Parth Kotak, 8, has multiple fractures.
In the CCTV footage, the driver behind the wheels of a Wagon R can be seen speeding towards the children from behind and then mowing them down. He then tried to flee the spot.
The driver, identified as Dilip Gunjal, a school teacher, has been arrested by the Thane Police. A case has been filed against him for rash driving.
Dilip Gunjal claimed that he lost control of the car and pressed the accelerator instead of brakes. He will be presented in court today.
