Huge fire broke out in Mumbai's Oshiwara

Mumbai: A massive fire broke out today at a furniture market in Mumbai's Oshiwara area, near Jogeshwari slum.

The fire broke out around 1 pm in one of the retail furniture shops in the market that deals in both old and new furniture, and rapidly spread to nearby shops.

At least 15 fire engines and 10 water tanks have been sent to the spot to bring the blaze under control. The officials are also trying to arrange for more fire engines to contain the fire.

The reason for the fire, which the officials say falls into the category 4 (high-intensity), is not known yet.

Efforts were on to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to a huge slum pocket situated in the vicinity.

No casualties or injuries have been reported, the official said.

Locals say some cylinder explosions as a result of fire may have added to the intensity of the blaze.
