Mumbai:
Heavy rains coupled with thunder and lightning affected weather in most parts of Mumbai since last evening. Schools and colleges have been shut as precaution and flights towards and from the financial capital are hit. The downpour is likely to continue for the next 24 hours, the weather department predicted. Several parts of the city including South Mumbai, Kandivili, Borivali, Andheri and Bhandup, received heavy rainfall. The traffic in Mumbai has slowed down and the local train are hit too. This is the second time in two months that Mumbai is hit with heavy rains.

Five people have been killed in Maharahstra's Palghar district in rain-related incidents. All of them drowned in nullahs and rivers in separate incidents.
In Dahanu, at least 50 houses were damaged due to rains and the residents were shifted to different camps.
Water logging was reported in areas like Ghodbunder road which affected vehicular traffic.

Latest Flights Update: 63 Jet Airways, 8 IndiGo and 3 SpiceJet and 1 GoAir flights cancelled due to bad weather at Mumbai airport.
The BMC said water logging was reported at several places, including Hindmata, Sion, Veera Desai Road, Air India Colony, Milan Subway, Andheri Subway, Bandra, Dahisar, Chembur and Mankhurd.

Railways update
The trains on the Western Line are running late by 10 to 15 minutes, according to an official of the Western Railway (WR).
The long distance trains which were regulated and stranded at various locations due to heavy water-logging at Nallasopara, Virar have been cleared, WR said in a statement.
Some intercity trains like Manmad-Mumbai Express, Gujarat Express, Saurashtra Express, Bandra-Terminus Surat Intercity Express and Mumbai Central-Ahmadabad Shatabdi Express have been cancelled, as per the officials of the Central Railway and the Western Railway.
