Remember that young woman who took on singer Yo Yo Honey Singh with her rap parody and created a stir on social media? She's back, and this time she has a bone to pick with society's attitude towards women and menstruation. Period.

In her latest poetry slam, Rene Sharanya Verma takes addresses the different attitudes people often take towards periods and debunks them piece by piece. "My period is not my shame," she tells everyone, a message that will resonate with women everywhere.

The St Stephen's student throws punch after punch about the euphemisms, perceptions and conversations surrounding this natural bodily process. She wants everyone to note that "the only thing cramping my style is their ignorance".
This open letter is for all those women whose "body is not their apology" and all those ladies who refuse to be "down".
