Queen Elizabeth II is not accompanying her grandson Prince William and his wife, the former Kate Middleton, on their first ever tour of India and that's a pity for this Mumbai resident, who would have been only too thrilled to host Her Royal Highness in the city.
At 93, Boman Kohinoor, the owner of Mumbai's iconic Britannia restaurant started during the British reign, may just be the oldest, loyalist, and biggest fan of the British Royal Family. In a video shared on Facebook, Me Kohinoor explains that he had written to the Queen in 2010, inviting her to visit him in India. She wrote back to thank him, on a letterhead stamped with the Windsor crest.
Mr Kohinoor now collects memorabilia of the Royal Family - including a full-sized photo of the Queen sent to him by Her Royal Highness. A cut-out of Will and Kate, gifted to him by visitors four years ago, decorate Britannia - as do a Union Jack and a few extra laminated pictures. Mr Kohinoor hopes his favourite family will come visit him in Mumbai.
"I do not know their itinerary, whatever it may be, but if they have heard about us and if they would like to visit us, they are most welcome," says Mr Kohinoor in the video. He even promises to serve them his famous berry pulav, salli boti and all his other best dishes.
Will and Kate, you may have a lot of ground to cover on your six-day trip here in India, but this is one offer you shouldn't decline.
Prince William and Kate Middleton arrive in Mumbai on Sunday and will meet actors Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan at a Bollywood gala. They will also visit the Taj Mahal in Agra and travel to Bhutan.
