The top businesspersons of 2012

MasterCard's India-born CEO Ajay Banga and ICICI Bank chief Chanda Kochhar have been named by Fortune magazine among the '2012 Businesspersons of the Year', an annual ranking of 50 global leaders who are "the best in business". Banga ranks eighth in the list, while Kochhar comes in at the 18th position. Here's the list of the businesspersons who make the top 10.

Rank 1 | Jeff Bezos
Bezos is the founder and CEO of online company Amazon.com, the largest retailer on the Internet. He was also the Time Person of the Year in 1999.

Rank 2 | Tim Cook
Cook is the chief executive of technology firm Apple. He joined the company in March 1998 and was named the CEO in August 2011. He took over after the death of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs in October the same year.

Rank 3 | Brian Roberts
Brian Roberts is the chairman and CEO of Comcast Corp, a company that provides cable, entertainment and communications products and services.

Rank 3 | Steve Burke
Jointly holding the third rank with Roberts is Steve Burke, the president and CEO of NBC Universal. Burke is also the president of Comcast.

John Donahoe is the president and chief executive of eBay since March 31, 2008.

Rank 5 | Oh-Hyun Kwon
Oh-Hyun Kwon is the chief executive of Samsung Electronics, the world's largest technology company by revenue. Under him, Samsung became the world's second-largest chip-maker in the world; Intel is No. 1.

Rank 6 | Larry Page
Larry Page is the co-founder and chief executive of Google. He took over as CEO in April 2011, replacing Eric Schmidt. Page and fellow co-founder Sergey Brin own close to 16 per cent of the company's shares.

Rank 7 | Carlos Brito
Carlos Brito is the chief executive of Anheuser-Busch Inbev, the world's largest brewer with nearly 25 per cent market share.
