Anju Mahendroo, Dimple Kapadia attend prayer meet at Aashirwad
Anju Mahendroo, Rajesh Khanna's ex-girlfriend, attended a prayer meet at Aashirwad yesterday in Mumbai. Aashirwad, Rajesh Khanna's bungalow on Carter Road, is where the superstar died of cancer on July 18. He was 69.

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who has worked with the late actor Rajesh Khanna in hit movies like Anand and Namak Haraam, was among the first celebrities to reach Mr Khanna's residence to pay his condolence to the family. Mr Bachchan shared the honour of being the highest paid actor with Mr Khanna from 1980 to 1987.
Rajesh Khanna died at home in Mumbai yesterday (July 18, 2012). He was 69. Mr Khanna was suffering from cancer. -
Writer Salim Khan was Rajesh Khanna's friend and neighbour. Remembering the late actor Salim Khan had said, "Unlike the days when stars appeared to be 'loud', Rajesh Khanna was soft and quiet, in his style, acting, personality and also public image."
Salim Khan scripted some Rajesh Kanna's greatest hits including Haathi Mere Saathi which was Salim-Javed's writing debut, and Andaaz. -
Poonam Dhillon, who acted with Rajesh Khanna in Red Rose (1980), said "I have a special soft corner for him. I was 13 years old and with a group of friends, I had gone to see a shoot of the film Karam. He spotted me amongst the group and called out to me. I was very nervous and wondered why he wanted to speak to me. He called me and told me that I have beautiful eyes. I was blushing and was also slightly embarrassed."

Lyricist Gulzar arrives at Aashirwad. He wrote the dialogues for the film Anand (1971), in which Rajesh Khanna played the terminally ill lead character. The film contained one of his most famous lines: "Babumoshai, zindagi aur maut uparwale ke hath hai jahapana, jise na aap badal sakte hai na main… hum sab to rangmanch ki katputliaan hai, jiski dor uparwale ke haath bandhi hai. Kab kaun kaise uthega, koi nahi janta."
