Mamma Mia: Carla Bruni plans a baby?

According to reports, the French president's millionaire pal Jacques Seguela broke the news to France's leading celebrity magazine Voici. (Text: PTI)

Advertising tycoon Seguela introduced the 54-year-old Sarkozy to the 41-year-old former supermodel at a Paris dinner party two years ago.(Text: PTI)

"Nicolas Sarkozy and Carla Bruni very much want to have a child. Carla has already said so several times, otherwise I would not be allowed to say this. Everyone knows about it now. They are a young couple, and like all young couples, they want to start a family," said Seguela. (Text: PTI)

Sarkozy, who already has three children from two previous marriages, believes that having a baby will boost his chances of winning the next presidential election in 2012.(Text: PTI)

"It seems the president feels that due to his age, if he doesn't have a child now, it will be too late. He also believes that such a happy event could be a vote winner in 2012," an insider at the magazine said.(Text: PTI)

In fact some rumours claim the glamourous French First Lady is already pregnant. According to a report in Hello Magazine's website, Carla Bruni has been missing from official engagements for some time now.

"Despite an appearance alongside her husband this week, France's first lady has cancelled many of her commitments in the last month including those with charities and her pop career. Instead she has been enjoying an extended holiday at her mum's Riviera villa - and sparked reports she is pregnant", the website said.

Before marrying Sarkozy on February 2, 2008, Bruni was among the 20 highest-paid fashion models, working for designers and fashion houses such as Christian Dior, Givenchy, Paco Rabanne, Sonia Rykiel, Christian Lacroix, Karl Lagerfeld, John Galliano, Yves Saint-Laurent, Chanel and Versace.
