The ninth floor of Everest building in South Mumbai caught fire early this evening. Most residents were evacuated, but initially there were reports that about 12 people on higher floors were trapped inside.
When the fire was noticed, at least 12 people were reportedly still stuck in the building. Rescue operations were on even while the fire brigade was engaged in dousing the fire.
