The teen was allegedly made to stand outside his clasroom after failing to pay his fees
A 17-year-old boy jumped off the third floor of his college building in Telangana's Ranga Reddy district on Saturday allegedly after he was punished for not paying fees.
The teen, who fractured his legs and back, has been admitted to a government hospital in Hyderabad.
The boy, a student of a private junior college, was reportedly depressed allegedly after he was made to stand outside his classroom for two consecutive days as punishment for failing to pay his fees.
The college management, however, claims that the boy was under academic pressure and was unable to cope.
His father, a truck driver, says they had already paid Rs 60,000 as fees and had to pay a balance of Rs 20,000.
Police have booked the college management for harassing a minor under the Juvenile justice Act.
This is the second such incident in the state in the last one week. On Wednesday, a 15-year-old boy committed suicide after he was allegedly punished in school for not paying fees. The
boy also left behind a chilling video message where he detailed the 'humiliation' he faced. His body was later found on a railway track.
