China to develop backward regions
The statute of the wise monk Hueng Sang lies in central China's Gansu province in the city of Lanzhou. In ancient times Gansu was an important transit point on the famous silk route. Today it is a modern capital of a province trying to catch up with the rest of the country's more developed areas.
