Maha govt gets involved in land deal
The Maharashtra government has invoked an urgency clause to acquire 3,500 acres of fertile land from farmers in the coastal Raigad belt for two power projects of Tata Power and Reliance Energy.This goes against the government’s stated policy of not getting involved in acquiring land for private projects. The villagers on the other hand wonder what was the big hurry to get their land without even informing them.
