Chennai imposes fine on garbage dumpers
In an attempt by Chennai Municipal authorities to keep the city as clean as Singapore, people will now be charged a fine for littering. Not long ago Chennai was nicknamed 'Stink-ara'. So the city's civic body is adopting the Singapore formula and 450 field officers are deployed across the city to catch and fine people for dirtying their surroundings and public places.
