Residents oppose proposed Puducherry port
Several citizens groups have registered their protest against a proposal to set up a Rs 2,700 crore deep water port in Puducherry. Environmental activists fear that the port will lead to widespread coastal erosion. Already seven km of coastline has been eroded in the last 17 years.
