Finding unity in diversity through attire

Out of the various ways of of interpreting the old "unity in diversity" idiom is to look at the way we dress. Increasingly across the country women have taken to a new garb. The cover-it-all maxi has stepped out of the house, into the open. "Our parents were not broad minded so we used to wear salwar kameez," said one woman. It is a far cry from the seventies and the eighties when the nightgown was a symbol of being cosmopolitan, being liberal.
