Desperate patients fuel organ trade
Given a choice, going under the surgeon's knife is usually a patient's last option. While dialysis does help some people with kidney problems many others need to undergo a transplant. As per Indian law only blood relatives or immediate family members are allowed to donate their kidneys. But patients, who can afford it, often turn to others who may be willing to donate a kidney.
