Farmers, police clash at Singur car site
Farmers opposed to a car factory in West Bengal's Singur area clashed with police on Saturday. Five protestors were hurt and police detained 40 others when they tried to stop fencing work at the site for the factory. Police fired rubber bullets and protestors hurled crude bombs, shot arrows and pelted stones.
