HC rules on sponsored police posts
The Bombay High Court has passed an order barring the police from constructing police chowkies with private funds. Many chowkies in Mumbai are sponsored by local politicians, corporate bigwigs and real estate companies. The state government has been directed to ensure that irregularities in the construction of these police chowkies are made legitimate and a compliance report is furnished by January 2008
