Judges to be made more accountable
Till now they have been seen to be more or less above the law, but now the law ministry is firm on making judges more accountable. Firstly, the parliament's powers to impeach a judge stays and the proposed National Judicial Council will no longer have a say in it. A concession is also on the anvil though, as the number of Supreme Court judges will be raised from the present figure of 26, and the council will have only judges.
