Left faces resistance over land acquisition
Until now, the Left was the moral watchdog of this government. But now, they find themeslves facing their own rhetoric of anti-people policies. The sale of land in Singur to the Tatas for their plant to build low-cost cars, has become an opportunity for the Congress, the BJP and even diehard Left supporters like Medha Patkar to accuse the Left, of using two standards - one for West Bengal and one for New Delhi.
