Political fallout of FDI in insurance
Increasing foreign investment in insurance is not going to be easy for the government, at least politically. The UPA doesn't have the numbers in Parliament and will need the BJP's support to get the bill passed. But with elections just a few months away the BJP is in no mood to oblige. "What was the government doing for so long? Why is it doing this when it does not have the numbers?" asked BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad.
