Punjab farmers get raw deal on Baisakhi
Despite Baisakhi on Monday, farmers in Punjab have little to cheer this harvest festival. The new crop is ready but the government insists farmers sell their grain to it, rather than private players.Worried about the spiral in prices and a looming food crisis the government wants to build up its stock, but for the hardworking farmers it means a huge loss.
