SC against arming civilians in Chhattisgarh
In a direct blow to the Salva Judum movement in Chhattisgarh, the Supreme Court on Monday said giving arms to civilians is illegal. Salva Judum is a controversial people's militia which is armed by the Chhattisgarh government to fight the naxals. It is the first time that the apex court has questioned the existence of an armed civilian outfit.
