SC order impacts Jallikattu festival
The fresh guidelines issued by the Supreme Court had its impact on the season's first jallikattu or taming of the bull event at Palamedu near Madurai. Double barricades separated spectators from bull tamers. Officials also kept a close tab on the bulls in a bid to check intoxication. But all this did not stop injuries to an estimated 81 people; one of them is critical.
