SC panel rejects judges' promotion plea
A panel of senior judges of the Supreme Court, headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan, has turned down Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's request to consider seniority in promoting three judges to the apex court. The panel had sent names of three judges to the Prime Minister for approval for elevation to the Supreme Court. But the government felt that the seniority of some other judges was overlooked.
