Toe the party line, Basu tells Somnath
Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee, reportedly under pressure from the Left to quit his post, met CPM leader Jyoti Basu amid indications that the Marxist veteran had asked him to toe the party line. Party insiders said that Basu is believed to have persuaded Chatterjee to toe the party line in the wake of the recent Left withdrawal of support to the UPA government.
