Akhilesh Yadav To Inaugurate First 'NRI-Day Conference' In Agra Today

Agra: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav will today inaugurate the first 'NRI Day conference' in Agra.

The three-day 'UP NRI-day' will help forge stronger ties and attract investments for various projects to speed up development of the state, a senior official of the state government said here, after a meeting of departmental heads to review preparations for the prestigious event.

The event is likely to be attended by more than 150 top NRIs from Canada, US, Singapore, Fiji, and a few west Asian countries.

About 12 stalls showcasing tourist attractions, industrial products, and government departments will also be put at the conference venue.

The Akhilesh Yadav goverment is banking heavily on this event to present a vibrant profile of the state and attract more investments, from those who have migrated from UP.

An official indicated that 13 MOUs would be signed.

Sufi singer Rahat Fateh Ali will present a programme this evening, while Birju Maharaj will present a dance performance tomorrow.

Actor Sanjay Khan and filmmaker Muzaffar Ali, have also been invited.

Sixteen NRIs will receive UP Pravasi Bhartiya Ratna Award.

During the interactive sessions today and tomorrow, various government departments will give presentations about facilities and potential in UP.

Information will also be given on film production promotion schemes of the state government which is already going ahead with the launch of a Migrant Resource Centre in Lucknow.
