Agra:
Intense cold swept and dense fog on Sunday enveloped the entire Agra region comprising Mathura, Firozabad, Etah and Aligarh districts, forcing the authorities to shut down primary schools.
The mercury fell to a mere 2 degrees celsius and thick fog reduced visibility to zero in Agra. Traffic on the Yamuna Expressway was suspended for a few hours, fearing accidents.
The weathermen, however, did not offer any early respite and said showers were expected in the next few days due to a disturbance.
District authorities have announced closure of schools, particularly primary ones, till weather improves.
