Agra: Father of Neha Shrama, a nanotechnology researcher who was mysteriously found dead in her laboratory here on March 16, has written to Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav seeking a CBI probe into his daughter's death.
Talking to PTI over phone, Neha's father RP Sharma said even after more than a month, the local police has failed to come out with any substantial breakthrough.
23-year-old Neha, a nanotechnology researcher, was found dead in the laboratory of a private college under mysterious circumstances, leading to angry protests by her co-students who demanded immediate arrest of the alleged killers.
"Even after more than a month, nothing substantial seems to have been coming out in the investigations carried out by local police," Mr Sharma said.
He said he had made a similar demand earlier also, but now he has written to the Chief Minister in this regard.
"We can only make requests" and cannot come out on streets," he said.
When asked about his earlier stand during the initial stages when he had expressed satisfaction over local probe, Mr Sharma said "till that time I felt the police was sincerely pursuing the matter. Now I have lost confidence in UP Police."
Asked whether he suspects that Neha might have been raped before her death, Mr Sharma said he cannot say anything and this should come out in the investigation.
Mr Sharma said when Neha's college mates were protesting against her death, he had appealed for calm but "things have changed now" as nothing substantial is being done to find out the truth.
