Agra:
A teenager was killed and two others injured after a stampede broke out during an army recruitment drive at a stadium in Agra.
18-year-old Dharam Veer, a resident of Jaitpur Tappal in Aligarh district, was trampled to death in the stampede that occurred after a barricade gave way due to the pressure of a large number of aspiring jawans who had turned up at the stadium, police said.
The injured are being treated at the Army Hospital in Agra.
Speaking about the unfortunate incident to the media, Gynanendra, who was injured during the stampede, said, "As soon as we were asked to enter the gate, the boys started running that caused lot of chaos and as a result my friend fell unconscious on the ground. When I came to rescue him, someone pushed me and as a result I too got injured."
The police have said that the deceased's family has been informed about the incident and the body has been sent for post-mortem. The army has not issued any statement so far on the incident.
