Class X student alleges molestation by relative

Ahmedabad: A class X student has lodged a case with the Naranpura police in which she has accused a relative of molesting her. The Naranpura police said that even before the case was lodged the mother of the accused allegedly tried to commit suicide. She is now admitted to the civil hospital, police sources said.

According to police, the 16-year-old lodged a case against one Manish Chavda, in which she alleged that he came to her room on Wednesday midnight and molested her. Sources said the accused escaped from the place when the victim's grandmother spotted him. Sources said that the victim's family had first approached the Naranpura police station on Thursday night but decided against filing a case. "On Thursday, both the families decided not to file a case. Then on the same night the mother of the accused attempted suicide. Apparently, she had earlier threatened to commit suicide if the matter was taken to the police," said a source.

The source said that after the suicide bid by the mother, the girl's family got scared and again approached the police to file a case.
