'Confluence' of innovative ideas at IIM-A

Ahmedabad: Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A)  hosted the three-day annual business summit -Confluence-2010-  over the weekend.
     
Focusing on various facets of economic growth, the key theme of this year's summit was 'Innovation'. Eminent speakers discussed subjects like innovation in business, governance and society related issues at the summit.
      
CEO of Makemytrip.com Deep Kalra and Google India Marketing head Nikhil Rungta were among those shared their views on how innovation was changing the face of business in India. In a presentation, Rungta showed the B-school students how data generated by Google was empowering businesses to grow in India.

Advisor Agriculture in Planning Commission, Dr V V Sadamante, National Stock Exchange CEO Ravi Narain, National Livelihood Commission Director T Vijay Kumar, were amongst the prominent speakers to address the students during the summit.

An event - Campaign for a Cause - was organised for the first time in the summit. It is aimed at creating social consciousness amongst the students and engage them in creation process of public policy, co-ordinator of event at IIM-A said.

The event saw participation from colleges across the country. The students presented short films on several social themes right from the plight of diamond workers in Gujarat to land acquisition issues to right of education. "The important aspect of this event here is not just that the social issue that students will talk about, but the fact that they will talk about public policy angle in it which makes the short films more solution-centric," said actor Rahul Bose, who was the event judge.
    
Around, 585 students particiapted in the Management Students Programme, another event of the summit, which is an avenue for students to interact with several industry leaders at lectures, workshops and panel discussions.
    
The event witnessed participation from over 50 colleges from all over India.
