Ahmedabad: A young man has alleged that he was beaten and sexually assaulted by two policemen in Ahmedabad on Sunday. He has, however, refused to file a complaint, saying it will only create trouble for him and his family.
"If I go to the police, nothing will come out, things will only fall apart. It will only mean more trouble for me and my mother. I don't want to pursue the case," he told NDTV.
According to the 23-year-old, he was returning from a friend's place when his car was stopped by two policemen in wee hours of Sunday morning. He says the cops asked for identification and the papers for his car and while checking the documents, the policemen identified him as a participant in a gay parade in December.
When he told the policemen he was gay, they allegedly beat him and then sexually assaulted him. The man has reportedly suffered injuries in his leg.
He has alleged that gay men are regularly harassed by policemen in Ahmedabad.
