Ahmedabad: The Gujarat government would bear Rs 2,000 crore out of the total expenditure of Rs 10,773 crore for the first phase, while the central government will bear Rs 2,000 crore on a 50:50 ratio basis, it said.
The project would be implemented by Metro Link Express for Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad (MEGA) Company Ltd.
The metro rail will be linked with BRTS, railway and other public transport services through which a multi-model transport service would be developed, it said.
Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel is scheduled to perform the groundbreaking ceremony of phase-1 of the ambitious Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project tomorrow at Vastral in Ahmedabad, an official statement said today.
In October last year, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led central government had approved a grant of Rs 10,773 crore for phase-1 of the metro rail project in the city.
The first phase, covering 37.76 km, has two different corridors, including East-West Corridor from Vastral to Thaltej and the North-South corridor from APMC to Motera.
The project would be implemented by Metro Link Express for Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad (MEGA) Company Ltd.
