Ahmedabad:
A hoax phone call, that a bomb has been planted in Gujari Bazaar (Sunday market) area in the Old City, forced the police personnel to undertake a comprehensive search operation yesterday.
Police said that the control room had received an anonymous call in the morning claiming that a bomb has been planted in Gujari Bazaar locality in Old City.
"As soon as we received the information, we reached the spot and scanned the entire area. We did not get any bomb from the spot," Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) 'E' division Antrip Sud said.
"We are not taking any chances. We are still confirming whether the call was hoax or not. We are also trying to figure out who the caller was," ACP Sud said.
The phone number to which the call was traced was switched off, police said.
