Ahmedabad:
A man allegedly cut the wrist of the police head constable who had come to enquire about a complaint made by the former's brother in a village of Kadi taluka in Mehsana district on Thursday, police said.
The incident took place in Aadundara village of Kadi taluka where one Vishnu Patel had a fight with his brother Suresh over some petty matter, they said.
According to police, following the fight between the brothers, Vishnu attacked and injured Suresh, who telephoned the police and sought help.
When head constable Amrutji Thakore came to the village to inquire about the complaint, Vishnu allegedly attacked him with a sword and cut off his wrist, police said, adding that Thakore's ear was also bruised due to the swing of the sword.
After attacking Thakore, Vishnu fled and on his way he pushed his own mother and hit a small child, injuring the two, police said.
Thakore has been admitted to a local hospital for treatment, police said.
They further said that Vishnu was a former deputy mamlatdar (taluka level revenue officer) and was mentally unstable. Police said that Vishnu was on the run with a sword and efforts were on to arrest him.
