Martial arts instructor held for allegedly raping two minor girls

Ahmedabad: A 27-year-old martial arts instructor has been arrested for allegedly raping two minor girls in Ahmedabad, police said on Thursday.

"We have arrested one Satish Makwana, a martial arts coach, for allegedly raping two girls here on March 24 and 25 one after the other," a police official said.

Makwana, a resident of Sabarmati locality in Ahmedabad, has been booked under Section 376 (rape) and 328 (causing hurt by means of poison etc, with intent to commit an offence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), police said.

The girls registered a complaint in this regard at Chandkheda police station in Ahmedabad on Wednesday night.

Chandkheda Police Inspector A G Gohil said the girls, who were also learning martial arts, were returning from Delhi by train when the accused met them and advised them to take up martial arts. According to police, he also promised to make them instructors soon.

While one girl was from Ahmedabad, another one was from Anand district, Gohil added.

The girls arrived in the city on March 24, police said, and they were put up at Makwana's friend's flat in Chandkheda area in Ahmedabad.

Police said the two girls were then offered cold drinks laced with sedatives and allegedly raped by the man.

When the girls gained consciousness, they informed their head coach before proceeding to file a police complaint.

The victims have been sent to Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad for medical examination, police said, adding that further probe is on.
