A six-year-old girl was sexually assaulted with an iron rod on Friday allegedly by a security guard at a construction site on the outskirts of Ahmedabad.
The local police have ruled out rape in their preliminary investigation based on the medical report and the girl's statement. However, a case of rape and molestation under section 376 of the Code of Criminal Procedure or CrpC has been filed against the accused as per the recently amended laws for cases of sexual assault.
The accused, 25, has been arrested by the police. He reportedly told the police that he had a personal enmity with the girl's father - who also works at the same construction site - and wanted to 'teach him a lesson'.
"The six-year-old girl has been assaulted by the guard. We have got the medical examination done and also statement of the girl doesn't indicate an attempt to rape. But since the attack was on (the girl's) private parts, a case has been lodged. The accused and the victim's father have had personal enmity since last one year which triggered the incident,'' he said.
