32-year-old woman stabbed to death over water dispute
Allahabad: A 32-year-old woman has been stabbed to death at her residence in the Karma Bazar locality of Allahabad by her neighbours. Sunita Kesarwani, a mother of three, had regular disputes with her neighbours, Babuji and Gayatri, over water which was in short supply.

Things took a turn for the worse on Monday morning, when Sunita - readying her three daughters for school - was filling up on drinking water from the neighbourhood municipal tap. "Water overflowed into the neighbour's house and a heated argument ensued," said Guddu Kesarwani, Sunita's husband. Her mother's cries for help went unheard, said a visibly distraught Chandani Kesarwani.

Eyewitnesses report seeing an enraged Babuji entering the Kesarwani household with knife in hand.

"Sunita was repeatedly stabbed by Babuji in a fit of rage as his wife Gayatri held her down," said Lallan Rai, Superintendent of Police, Trans Yamuna, adding, "Sunita was devout by nature. Her neighbours, suspected she might be using black magic to siphon off water."

Police from Ghurpur Police Station has arrested the husband-wife duo and is investigating whether water could indeed be the tipping point in Sunita's murder.
