Police exam: Allahabad High Court asks top UP officials to file affidavits
Allahabad: The Allahabad High Court on Tuesday directed the Principal Secretary (Home) and the DGP of Uttar Pradesh to file counter-affidavits within six weeks on a writ petition filed by policemen challenging the last month's departmental examination for sub-inspector post.

While passing the order to Principal Secretary (Home) Kunwar Fateh Bahadur and DGP Karamveer Singh, Justice V K Shukla held that if any promotions were effected on the basis of the impugned examination results, the same shall be subject to the final verdict on the petition.

The petition was filed by Vinod Kumar and others, all of them constables and head constables in civil and armed police.

The petitioners have submitted that they had appeared in the departmental examination held on March 3 with a view to fill up 5,000 vacant posts in the rank of sub-inspectors.

They have alleged that the results which were declared on June 22 were evaluated on the basis of a model answer sheet published on a state government website.

The petitioners have also alleged that some of the answers to some of the questions shown in the model answer sheet were not correct and this may have resulted in the failure of deserving candidates.
