Shimla:
A tourist from Amritsar, who ventured to enjoy the thrill of paragliding in picturesque Kajjiar area of Himachal Pradesh's Chamba district, lost his life after the glider tilted due to strong wind and overturned.
The tourist, identified as Manvinder Singh, was flying in the glider with Pappu, operating paragliding flights in the area. When the glider was coming down for landing, it tilted due to strong winds and overturned.
Manvinder fell into a stream in the deep forests and died on the spot, Superintended of Police, Chamba, Kuldeep Sharma said.
However, Pappu had a miraculous escape.
A case has been registered against the trainer as paragliding is not allowed in the forest area around Khajjiar as it falls in wildlife sanctuary, Mr Sharma said.
The body of the deceased had been sent for post mortem.
