Amritsar: Border Security Force (BSF) troopers killed three smugglers, including two from Pakistan, and recovered nearly 10 kg of heroin on Thursday morning, a senior BSF official said here.
BSF inspector general Aditya Mishra told media that the smugglers were killed in return fire from BSF troopers after they (smugglers) opened fire while trying to push the heroin into the Indian side from across the barbed wire-fenced border.
"Three smugglers were killed and 10 kg of heroin has been recovered along with one pistol," Mr Mishra said.
The incident took place on Thursday morning near the Sundergarh border outpost (BOP), 30 km from here.
The BSF also recovered mobile phones and Pakistani SIM cards from the killed smugglers.
The BSF had recovered 14 kg heroin a few days back along the international border in the Amritsar sector.
