Amritsar:
A Punjab police constable today lost his life as the lift he was using at the District Court Complex in Amritsar got stuck due to some technical problem.
The lift got jammed between the third and fourth floors of the building and the cop, Sandip Singh, 33, lost his life during rescue operation, police said.
Deputy Commissioner Punjab Police Satpal Joshi said when the operator, on hearing the warning siren, reached to save him and broke the lift door. He found Singh unconscious. When the operator attempted to him Singh out of the lift after breaking the door, Singh fell down from the lift.
Deputy Commissioner Joshi said the lift operator should not have gone alone for rescue operation since he was handicapped and misfit for this task.
